Clarkston United Methodist Church

Foundation Of Faith

We have been a cornerstone in the community for over 150 years. Since the original dwelling at the corner of Buffalo and Church streets, we have grown in faith, fellowship and outreach.

Looking Toward The Future

In 1957, the church made a monumental decision to create space for future ministry. The congregation moved out of the building that had held them for decades to create the church we now call home.

Time To Expand

Our vision is to create an accessible, welcoming and usable place for today and future generations, to fulfill our mission to Vitally Connect People to People and People to God.

Serving The Community

Just as our spiritual parents made the decision to move down the hill, we must be the ones to embrace this exciting opportunity to transform our facility to meet the growing ministry needs of our membership, programs and outreach.

Design Priorities

Our objective is to modernize our existing footprint providing increased, flexible space to accommodate our ministry growth. We will utilize space in a more flexible manner, modernize our restrooms, and provide barrier free accessibility throughout the facility.

Timeline

Construction will begin in January, 2017. We received approval from the Crossroads District Location & Building Committee, our District Superintendent and the CUMC Charge Conference. In parallel, we received approval from Clarkston City and Planning Board and City Council. All permits have been approved and issued. Once the construction begins, estimated build is 12-18 months. The construction firm will be onsite the entire time, with no project disruption. The project will be done in Phases, with the construction of the Multi-Purpose Community Center at the rear of the building as the first section. We will be able to occupy sections of the facility during the construction.

Capital Campaign

The initial results from the Capital Campaign have been fabulous! We celebrate the generosity and enthusiasm of our church family and thank you for your commitment and prayers for our Ministry Expansion. We have commitments for over $3.3M and received funds in excess of $2.4M. We ask for your continued prayers as we work to bring our conceptual views to fruition.
